Allentown Science Academy (ASA) is a proposed Health Sciences and Technology Charter School open to students in the Allentown School District.
Sacred Heart Hospital has joined ASA as a community partner.
Allentown Science Academy (ASA) is applying for a charter to operate within the Allentown School District. If the charter is granted, the school will serve 504 students, Grades 6-12, with a planned opening of Grades 6-8 in the fall of 2011. Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 will be added in the second, third, fourth, and fifth years of operation, respectively.
ASA's middle school curriculum will provide intensive academic support to bring all students—including English Language Learners—up to grade-level proficiency in reading and math. The high school curriculum will offer students a choice of three educational tracks: General College Prep, Engineering, and Biomedical Sciences.
All students will receive the skills and the mentoring needed to set educational and career goals and to succeed in college and in the competitive world beyond college. Our vision is that students will continue their education and find meaningful employment within the Lehigh Valley, thereby enriching their own lives and strengthening our community.

Help Us Prepare for Appeal The Board of Trustees met and decided to prepare for an appeal to the ASD's denial of our charter. In order to file an appeal, we need at least 1000 signatures, following specific legal guidelines. Please help us gather these signatures before April 15. ASD Education Committee Votes to Deny Charter At their February meeting, the Education Committee of the ASD Board voted to deny the charter to Allentown Science Academy. The full Board will vote at their February 24th meeting. ASA's Board is currently discussing its options for proceeding. |
ASD Education Committee will Meet on Feb 10 On Thursday, February 10, the Allentown School District Board's Education Committee will discuss their response to the Allentown Science Academy's application. The meeting begins at 7:00 in the Board Room at ASD's administration building, 31 S. Penn Street. Supporters are welcome to attend. |
